How much will I be paid?

As an apprentice you will be paid by your employer for the work you do, as well as for the time spent on training. Apprenticeship wages can vary depending on your skills and experience, type of apprenticeship and sector you work in.

There are National Minimum Wage hourly rates of pay you are entitled to and which all employers should follow. As an apprentice you are entitled to the apprentice rate of £5.28/hr if you are:

  • Aged 16 to 18 years
  • Aged 19 or over and in the first year of your apprenticeship

If you are over 19 and have completed the first year of your apprenticeship, you will be entitled to the National Minimum Wage. Please speak to your employer to confirm the rate of pay prior to commencing your apprenticeship.
